When it comes to dining gluten-free in New York City, there’s no shortage of delicious options! From cozy cafés to chic rooftop dining, NYC caters to those with gluten sensitivities and celiac disease alike.

Here’s a list of the top 10 gluten-free restaurants in New York City, tried and tested by me (a very sensitive celiac).

If you’re visiting from abroad, I’d recommend staying centrally so you can walk off all the gluten-free eats. Try these NYC hotels on Booking.com.

  • Why Go: Craving a classic New York bagel? Modern Bread and Bagel is entirely gluten-free, so you don’t have to miss out on this NYC staple. Their salmon and cream cheese bagel is a must-try, and their commitment to safe, celiac-friendly practices makes it a worry-free option.
  • Menu Highlights: Alongside bagels, enjoy delicious baked goods and brunch classics in a cozy atmosphere.

2. Friedmans

  • Locations: Various locations across NYC
  • Why Go: Known for its extensive gluten-free options, Friedmans serves up comforting American favorites with a dedicated gluten-free kitchen area to prevent cross-contamination. It’s an ideal spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
  • Menu Highlights: Try their gluten-free pancakes, sandwiches, and eggs Benedict. Friedmans makes dining out easy and enjoyable for gluten-free diners.

3. La Pecora Bianca

  • Why Go: La Pecora Bianca’s vibrant Italian dishes are a favorite among gluten-free diners. Their gluten-free vodka pasta is a star, crafted with rich, creamy flavors that bring a taste of Italy to NYC.
  • Menu Highlights: Enjoy hearty gluten-free pasta dishes in a chic, welcoming setting. La Pecora Bianca provides multiple options for celiac-friendly Italian dining. Add a whole Burata to your pasta for extra creaminess!

4. The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges

  • Why Go: For a more upscale experience, The Mark serves a delightful lemon pasta that’s gluten-free and absolutely delicious. Enjoy this elegant dish in a luxury setting at one of New York’s most famous hotels. They were very accommodating and offered many things they could adapt to make gluten free.
  • Menu Highlights: Known for its refined menu, The Mark offers gluten-free selections that cater to a high-end dining experience without compromising on taste.

5. RH Rooftop Restaurant

  • Why Go: Located at the top of the Restoration Hardware store, RH Rooftop offers stunning views along with its carefully curated menu. The restaurant provides gluten-free options and an atmosphere that’s perfect for a special meal in the city. You’ll have to ask what you can have as it’s not clearly marked on the menu but they offer many choices and adaptations.
  • Menu Highlights: Enjoy gluten-free salads, entrees, while overlooking beautiful city views. I highly recommend the truffle fries and crispy artichokes!

6. Boucherie

  • Why Go: A must-visit for French cuisine lovers, Boucherie has only a few gluten-free options and perhaps is the most limited on this list but the steak and puréed potatoes were too good to skip. With a classic bistro vibe, this restaurant provides an authentic French dining experience and quite a few dishes can be made without gluten. You’ll have to double check on the fries as from memory they weren’t cooked in separate fryers, therefore I couldn’t have these.
  • Menu Highlights: Indulge in expertly cooked steak, salads and even gluten-free creme brûlée. Note the options are limited but what is available is very good and most importantly, I did not get unwell here!

7. Kesté Pizza e Vino

  • Address: 77 Fulton St, New York, NY 10038, United States
  • Why Go: Pizza lovers, rejoice! Kesté Pizza e Vino serves delicious gluten-free pizza with classic Italian toppings. Their pizza crust is perfectly crispy, chewy, and crafted for gluten-free diners, making this spot one of the best for pizza in NYC.
  • Menu Highlights: Try their Margherita or other gluten-free specialty pizzas, paired with an Italian wine selection. Don’t skip dessert – they do a great gluten free tiramisu.

8. Felice

  • Why Go: Known for its cozy Tuscan ambiance and classic Italian menu, Felice offers gluten-free pasta options, so you can enjoy traditional Italian flavors safely. Their dedication to authentic Italian cooking with high-quality ingredients makes it a must-visit for gluten-free Italian dining.
  • Menu Highlights: Try their gluten-free pasta options like Penne al Pomodoro or Rigatoni alla Bolognese. Pair your meal with a glass of wine from their impressive Tuscan wine list for a true Italian experience.

9. Senza Gluten

  • Address: 206 Sullivan St, New York, NY 10012, United States
  • Why Go: As a 100% gluten-free Italian restaurant, Senza Gluten is a top choice for gluten-free diners. They offer authentic Italian dishes without any risk of cross-contamination.
  • Menu Highlights: Enjoy classic dishes like gluten-free lasagna, ravioli, and tiramisu in a charming, cozy atmosphere.

10. P.F. Chang’s (Various Locations)

  • Why Go: Though it’s a chain, P.F. Chang’s has a reliable gluten-free menu that includes many Chinese-American dishes. They prepare gluten-free items separately to avoid cross-contamination, and it’s a dependable option for celiac-safe Chinese-inspired dining.
  • Menu Highlights: Try the gluten-free lettuce wraps, Mongolian beef, and Singapore street noodles.

  • Wild, a brunch, pizza, pasta and burger spot (535 Hudson St, New York, NY 10014)

🎭 Things to Do in NYC Between Gluten-Free Meals

If you’re anything like me, planning where to eat is the main event—but in a city like New York, you’re going to need something to do between gluten-free bagels and coeliac-safe pasta. These are a few fun, low-effort (and mostly food-free) activities I’d recommend adding to your itinerary. Bonus: they’re all perfect to do solo or with a friend, and totally safe to bring snacks in your bag.


🎭 See a Broadway Show

Going to see a show on broadway is a rite of passage. I went to watch Aladdin and it was absolutely incredible! I was on my own on a work trip and it was the perfect thing to do solo. Whether it’s Hamilton, Wicked, or something niche you can book Broadway tickets on Get Your Guide in advance and choose a showtime that works around your dinner plans.


🗽 Cruise Around Manhattan

There’s something magical about seeing NYC from the water. This sunset skyline cruise is one of my favourite ways to unwind after a big meal—just don’t forget your jumper, it gets windy!


🖼 Do the Culture Thing (Without Queueing)

If you’re museum-curious but hate lines, this skip-the-line MoMA or MET ticket is a lifesaver. You’ll be back out in time for lunch, and yes, there are places to sit down if you need a break (this is important).

You could spend a whole week just eating, but I like to balance out my free time in New York with something fun in between. Trust me your digestion will thank you.


Best Hotel to Stay in Times Square New York

Tempo by Hilton New York Times Square

Having been to New York a few times, my favourite hotel I’ve stayed in has been the Tempo by Hilton New York Times Square. It’s a fairly new addition to the NYC hotel scene and features floor to ceiling windows with views of time square (you can even book one of their balldrop rooms and watch the fireworks on NYE!). I loved the bright bathrooms with huge light up mirrors that had built in speakers for you to play music on while you get ready. Theres a really nice bar and chill out area that’s perfect for a light snack, drink and remote working. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!


Best Hotel to Stay in the Flat Iron District New York

Hotel Park Avenue (Formerly Mondrian Hotel)

Another one of my favourite hotels in New York is Hotel Park Avenue. Included in your stay is a free Pret every morning, delivered to your door. The rooms have balcony (rare for NYC) and a beautiful terrace with skyline views. Based in the Flat Iron district, its just out of the way of the hustle and bustle of Times Square but still in walking distance (20-25 minutes). The Flat Iron district is a great neighbourhood with lots of gluten-free restaurants nearby and only a 35 minute walk from Chelsea market. As somebody who has been to New York many times, Times Square feels a bit overhwleming so I prefer this quieter spot in Flat Iron as it’s centrally located and not far from my favourite neighbourhoods and tourist spots.
