10 Must-Visit Gluten-Free Restaurants Around the World for Celiac Travellers

Exploring the world while adhering to a gluten-free diet can be a challenge, but it’s far from impossible. Here are 10 of my gluten-free restaurant highlights from this year, spanning multiple countries and cuisines, ensuring both taste and safety for those of us avoiding gluten. These spots not only offer delicious options but are also incredibly accommodating to gluten-free needs. Let’s dive into some of the best gluten-free dining experiences from Milan to New York!

1. Officiana Zero – Milan, Italy

A true haven for gluten-free travelers, Officiana Zero in Milan is famous for its delicious baked goods. One bite of their pistachio croissant, and you’ll understand why I’m still dreaming about it! Just a short walk from Grand Central Station, this gluten-free bakery is a must-stop for anyone looking for a quick and indulgent bite in the heart of Milan. If you’re craving authentic Italian pastries that are 100% gluten-free, this is your spot.

2. Los Mochis – London, UK

Located in the trendy district of Notting Hill, Los Mochis offers an entirely gluten-free menu, blending Japanese and Mexican cuisines in an unforgettable dining experience. I’ve eaten here four times this year, and I can’t recommend enough the duck pato on crispy rice, calamari, and the prawn tempura sushi. It’s a gluten-free paradise where you don’t have to compromise on taste or texture. I’m also obsessed with the Bloody Mary’s which are such a treat when I can’t normally drink them!

3. Friedmans – New York City, USA

Whenever I’m in New York, I make it a point to stop by Friedmans. It’s the place to be for gluten-free dining, with almost the entire menu being celiac-friendly. Whether you’re craving a hearty toasted sandwich, fluffy pancakes, or the incredible Nova Benny breakfast, Friedmans has it all. This spot has become my go-to for reliable and mouthwatering gluten-free meals in the Big Apple.

4. Sunset Amoudi – Santorini, Greece

Dining at Sunset Amoudi is an experience that combines incredible food with stunning views. Yes, it may be on the pricier side, but the gluten-free lobster pasta was worth every penny. We booked a table right before sunset, and it was pure magic – delicious food with a breathtaking backdrop of the Aegean Sea. For a special occasion or just a luxurious night out in Santorini, this is the place to be.

5. Zephyros – Larnaca, Cyprus

One of my all-time favorite restaurants in Cyprus, Zephyros is perfect for seafood lovers. The octopus and chips, paired with a fresh salad and gluten-free tzatziki, is unbeatable. Whether you’re dining in with a sea view or grabbing a takeaway, this place serves consistently fantastic gluten-free meals. It’s always a highlight of my trips to Cyprus!

6. Brass Kitchen & Bar – Reykjavik, Iceland

Iceland may not be the first place you think of for gluten-free burgers, but Brass Kitchen & Bar delivers. I had the truffle burger, and it was hands down the best gluten-free burger I’ve ever eaten. The soft, non-dry bun was bigger than the burger (a rarity for gluten-free bread). Add in some buffalo cauliflower wings and gluten-free beer, and this was a meal to remember. A must-visit in Reykjavik!

7. Shoreditch Bar & Kitchen – St Juliens, Malta

Finding a gluten-free eggs Benedict served on a real English muffin is almost impossible – until I found Shoreditch Bar & Kitchen in Malta. This breakfast blew my mind. For any gluten-free foodie who’s tired of dry toast substitutes, this restaurant serves the most authentic and satisfying brunch. It’s the best breakfast I’ve had in years!

8. Keste Pizza – New York City, USA

When in New York, you must try Keste Pizza. As someone who has sampled gluten-free pizzas across the globe, I can confidently say that Keste’s is a strong contender for the best gluten-free pizza I’ve ever had. It may even outshine the pizza I had in Milan, which says a lot! If you’re looking for a perfect gluten-free pizza, don’t miss this gem in NYC.

9. Vegan Junk Food Bar – Barcelona, Spain

Vegan Junk Food Bar in Barcelona isn’t exclusively gluten-free, but they offer a wide variety of gluten-free options, and the food is incredible. My personal favorite was the loaded potato smiley fries topped with vegan ribs – an absolute nostalgia-filled indulgence. If you’re gluten-free and vegan, or just looking for an amazing meal, this spot is a must-visit.

10. Mamma Eats – Milan, Italy

I never thought I’d find a gluten-free pasta better than La Pecora Bianca’s vodka pasta, but Mamma Eats in Milan might have done it. Their gluten-free pasta is next-level, and the potato croquettes were unbelievably good. If you’re craving Italian comfort food, this is the restaurant to hit when in Milan.
