My vintage shopping tour began at Crossroads Trading, located at 24 W 26th St, New York, NY 10001. This trendy thrift store offers a curated selection of secondhand clothing and accessories. As soon as I stepped inside, I was greeted by racks filled with fashionable pieces from various eras. Though more modern than retro, there was something for every style and taste. What I loved most about Crossroads Trading was the quality of the items with reasonable price points (some items even still had their original tags!).
Goodwill NYNJ Store & Donation Center: Shop for a Cause
Next on my list was the Goodwill NYNJ Store & Donation Center, situated at 103 W 25th St, New York, NY 10001. Goodwill is known for its extensive collection of pre-loved items, and this location did not disappoint. As I browsed through the aisles, I was amazed by the sheer variety of clothing, shoes, and accessories available but also how organized everything was, a far cry from UK Charity shops! From designer labels to unique vintage pieces, Goodwill had so much to offer. What’s even better is that by shopping here, all proceeds from Goodwill stores go towards job training and employment programs.

I then headed to T.J. Maxx on 6th Avenue to to see what discounted designer items they had to offer. While not exclusively a thrift store, T.J. Maxx offers a dedicated section for pre-loved vintage designer pieces that were a fraction of their original price. Whether you seek classic vintage styles or modern fashion, TJ Maxx promises an array of options to satisfy your style cravings.
Housing Works Thrift Shops – Chelsea: Vintage Treasures for a Cause
No vintage shopping tour in New York City would be complete without a visit to Housing Works Thrift Shop. I made my way to their Chelsea location at 143 W 17th St, and I was immediately drawn in by the cozy atmosphere and the vast array of vintage treasures. From clothing to home decor, Housing Works had a huge variety of vintage. My favourite part of this store was the incredible vintage jewellery cabinet! I bought two silver vintage choker necklaces for $20 each, which was really good value.
What sets this thrift shop apart is its commitment to supporting those affected by HIV/AIDS. All the proceeds from their stores go towards funding healthcare, housing, and other vital services for individuals in need. Shopping here not only allows you to find unique vintage pieces but also helps make a positive impact on the community.
